Amazon.com

Make coffee at the campsite without waiting for the pour-over cone to come your way with the Glacier 9-cup percolator. The percolator is made of heavy-gauge, 18/8 stainless steel, with an ultra-rugged design that stands up to rough handling and ground impacts. To make coffee, just add ground coffee to the filter basket and put the water-filled percolator on a heat source, such as a propane grill or fire grate. It's easy to check your brew's progress thanks to the PercView dome on the top, which is made of clear BPA-free Lexan resin. And you don't need a potholder to lift the percolator, as the unit's heat-resistant silicone handle stays cool to the touch. The Glacier Stainless percolator is even dishwasher-safe, with marine-grade, corrosion-resistant stainless componentry and welds.

About GSI Outdoors
GSI opened its doors in 1985, after a small group of British Columbian siblings made their way down the West Coast to San Diego. Beginning with a few pieces of blue enamelware and a smattering of campfire accessories, GSI Outdoors grew through the years to include full design, manufacturing, sales, and marketing departments, all tasked with developing and marketing an ever-more-innovative line of outdoor cookware, tableware, and accessories. Siblings Don, Ian, and Kathy Scott eventually relocated to Spokane, Washington, where they continue to define innovation through the creation of unique, imaginative, and fun products that reassert their enthusiasm for the outdoors. GSI Outdoors is still a small, privately held company, with no obligation to shareholders, a corporate board, or anyone else aside from its customers and employees.

Admit it, how many drip coffee machines have you purchased in your lifetime? Too many I'm sure, just like me. The carafe breaks, can't find the right style replacement, or it just stops working after a few years.

I am DONE with shoddy electric appliances. I did a little online searching, and I decided that a stainless steel percolator was the right choice:

* No glass carafe to break, no electrical components to wear out, and I can use it even if the power is out (gas stove or outside on campfire).

*all stainless steel parts, sturdy, easy to clean

*basket has a cover (not all percolator baskets do)

* dome is made from Lexan resin, which is BPA-free and resistant to breaking (unlike percolators with glass domes, and I have read some reviews that complain of frequent cracking)

* does not require filter papers

* doesn't hog up counter space in my tiny galley kitchen

* makes a... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars camp coffee, October 11, 2010

I have bought more items online than in stores. This is the first time the quality exceeded my expectations. This could be rated HD (heavy duty) for camping. In household use it could be passed down for generations. I've been drinking coffee for over 51 years, this is the last coffee pot I will buy, just wish it was the first.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sturdy Little Coffee Pot, September 21, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: GSI Outdoors Glacier Stainless Percolator (Sports)
I've been searching for a good coffee pot for over a month, trying to get away from my Coleman pot that's too hot to pick up, has a lid that falls apart, and leaves a ton coffee grounds in the coffee. This GSI coffee pot solves all those problems and is very likely the best pot of its kind on the market. I could find none better.

1.0 out of 5 stars There is an easier cheaper way, March 12, 2009
This review is from: Melitta Coffee Filters for Percolators, White Wrap Around, 40-Count Filters (Pack of 12) (Grocery)
There is a better and far cheaper filter if you are using these for for your 12 cup electric percolator. (Westbend, Presto, Hamilton Beach, etc)
Believe it or not, it is the ubiquitous 8-12 cup basket coffee filters that are used by everyone who has a drip coffee maker. There is no hole so you simply center the basket filter on the percolator tube and push the filter down over the tube with your thumb and fingers close to tube to make sure that the puncture is not much larger than the size of the tube. You will find that even if you tear it a little larger than the tube when you press the filter down over it there will be no problem with coffee grinds getting through.

After you do this you will have a nice paper basket filter inside you electric drip coffee maker that works better than the small round disc filters that they sell for these and save money on these expensive wrap filters.

One additional tip about cleaning electric percolators. I fill... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Another brilliant invention, ask anyone who percolates their coffee., December 19, 2006

This review is from: Melitta Coffee Filters for Percolators, White Wrap Around, 40-Count Filters (Pack of 12) (Grocery)
I have an old, rather beat-up percolator that I bought for $1 from the neighbor lady during a garage sale. It is terrific. Easy to make the coffee, the coffee tastes great and it takes up little counter space. But I would get these grounds in my coffee cup, and I didn't like it.

Enter the percolator filter! These are great, because the grounds really have no where to go. My grocery store used to carry (but have stopped, which isn't good) the disc filters, which just sit under the grounds, but don't wrap around them in any way. So the grounds can still sneak into my cup (though it is better than nothing).

Also these make disposal easy. Just tip your percolator basket thingie (I have a percolator but am clearly not an expert on them) upside down, the filter falls out and you are ready for another pot of joe.

Thank you, Melitta!

If you love a great cup of old fashioned "joe," and use a percolator, then these are the filters for you! These are a thousand times better than the round disk style filters. Because of the wrap around style of this filter, you will find no grounds in your cup, which is a major problem with the disk type filters. I bought these for my mom, and she was absolutly thrilled.
